In the "Math Spot" we practice math during the Math PAWS time during the school day. This is extra math practice in addition to the grade level math taught by your child's classroom teacher. During this time we practice skills that have previously not been mastered. The skills practiced are from the previous school year. We have the benefit of small groups usually 5-10 students. This allows for maximum practice and the ability to discuss math. We meet daily for thirty minutes. The goal is to build confidence and master skills that will support the current grade level math curriculum.
Welcome to "The Math Spot". I'm Mrs. Mesa and have been teaching for over 20 years. I have my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (K-8) with emphasis in Early Childhood from Arizona State University. In addition, I also have endorsements in Early Childhood; Reading K-12; Math K-8; and Structured English Immersion (SEI).
Over the years, I have taught Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 5th grade. Patterson Elementary has been my home since 2002 and for the past six years I have been teaching Title 1 Math to Kindergarten - 6th graders. Math has always been a favorite subject to teach. Title 1 Math became my passion as I can support students and teachers with extra math help,
I have lived in Gilbert for the past 37 years and my two children have received their education in Gilbert (Go Gilbert Tigers) and are now in college. You can find me eating at Flancers (my favorite restaurant) or shopping for anything with polka dots or Hello Kitty and anything chocolate.
