Hello! My name is Karen Frederick, and I have had the joy of teaching Kindergarten for 36 years. As an Arizona native, I love being part of this community—and because I have two grandchildren who attend Patterson, this school holds a very special place in my heart!

My favorite thing about teaching is witnessing the incredible growth that happens in just one year. At the start, many students are just beginning to recognize letters and numbers. By the end, they are reading, writing, and solving problems with confidence and independence.

We love to dive deep into our subjects here! My favorite moment so far this year was starting our Bug Unit. The classroom felt "electric" as the students’ curiosity came to life. Seeing them so eager to ask questions and share their knowledge about insects is what makes teaching such a joy.

A Note for Parents:
My best advice is simple. Read with your child every day. Even just a few minutes helps build their language skills and fosters a lifelong love for learning.

After more than three decades in the classroom, I’ve learned that building strong relationships is at the heart of everything we do. When children feel safe and supported, they are ready to thrive.

When I’m not in the classroom, I’m usually enjoying a good book or spending time with my family right here in the community.

I can’t wait to welcome your child into our safe, encouraging, and exciting Kindergarten world!
